初读英文诗歌时，即对其中不少爱与死的描写有所感触。如同其他抽象的

理念一样，爱情和死亡，在英文文学中，尤其在诗歌中，可以做为一个超越现

实世界的独立存在来感悟，来思辩，来描写，来讴歌。而中国文化中，并没有

这种超越现实的理念世界及其相对应的文学表达。爱和死，在英文诗歌中，并

不必与具体的客观世界和诗人的现实生活相牵连，因此也没有中文诗歌中那种

‘情景交融’的特点，而多是内化的理念思考和抽象化了的感情表达。

　

因此，爱情和死亡的关系，在英文诗歌中似乎比中文诗歌的涉及面更广，

表达方式也更多样。比如下面这首细辩爱与死亡异同的《尽管我年轻无辩》：
